Never ending war with kwarezmians

Ok on my Fatimid campaign I destroyed the KOJ And sat around devolping my economy and army.

So now I'm number one in almost everything, and after the Seljukes denied my many many offers for alliance, I decided to destroy them

So I've taken almost all of modern day Turkey, and now i race towards Baghdad. I siege, and occupy the city.
Next turn I get message that im at war with The kwarezmians...I havnt done anything to them, so I start scanning my territories seeing if they did anything. Not one kwarezmian army or agent on my soil. Then I notice That I've obtained basra(previously occupied by the Kwarez.) And I'm wondering why, since I didnt have any spies or anything there.

Next turn I send a diplomat to ask for a ceasefire in exchange for Basra...So now the Kwarez Have Basra and we aren't at war...Next turn I get another message saying im at war with the Kwarezmians, all my territoris are clear once again. Now I notice That I have the province on the southeast Arabian peninsula(I forget the name) This too was previously controlled by the kwarez....Now they won't accept an alliance from me, and my reputation has dropped to dubious

Any idea on what's going on? Maybe I've completly forgotten about something?

very odd. Maybe it's something to do with culture. I've had loyalist revolts from provinces I've not held, but have my culture or religion. Don't know, just stabbing in the dark.

I think Deadly Rabbit is correct and that it was a loyalist revolt that gave you Basra. Because the Kwarezmian's previously owned it when it rebelled to your faction, a state of war is now declared between you and them.

Can you increase the chances of this happening, using various agents and what not?

To cause a region to rebel, do this kind of things:
-assassinate the governor
-sabotage buildings that affect public health or happiness
-send spies to that settlement (they increase the unrest)
-send priests (pagan/catholic/orthodox priests or (muslim) imams) to their lands if they have different religion (they convert people to your religion and cause religious unrest)

I have seen that a few times too. An enemy settlement is rioting, and whoa, the next turn it is yours, causing you tu be at war with the faction that previously owned it.
I also think that this may have something to do with cultures in the descr_strat file.
