I'm playing a normal difficulty game with France on v6.1 (my first game) and by 1180 there is only one cardinal left and almost every faction has had a "End of a dynasty?" notice.
Am I playing at the wrong difficulty or something?

I believe SS6.1 plays best on H/H or VH/VH... It does odd things on any other difficulty.
