RTW p6 cannot find rtw.exe in BI

Tis may be updated later when I check this, was going to look yesterday but due to problem with my firewall failing that took precedence so not investigated fully.

However, I have RTW patched to 1.5 and RS runs this from a c:\Users\me\Games\RomaSurrectum folder. I'm on Vista SP2 and have the UAC configured.

I have a vanilla copy of RTW that I copied to c:\users\me\Games\RTW-BI and then copied the 1.6 patch there but when I run the patch it says it cannot find the RTW.exe

I know that I can run BI OK but I think that this may be a problem with the way I've copied the files so will need to check where exactly the BI I can run, actually runs from as I suspect it is not the c:\users\me\Games\RTW-BI as intended.

The reason for this was to run my current game saves against a BI exe and use that same exe (a new clean copy) for RS2.0 when that is released rather than vanilla.

I think I may be the only person hoping 2.0 isn't released too soon, that way I can finish my 1.5 campaign and not be stuck in a dilemma of finishing 1.5 or starting 2.0

[Edit] Thanks, that was it, I renamed the RomaSurrectumBI (not RTW-BI as stated above) to Rome - Total War in the c:\Users\me\Games folder and the patch ran cleanly. It's more a case of my organisation, I do have a clean vanilla RTW, just not in the same location to supposedly avoid confusing myself. Sigh.
Anyway, now I can install RS onto BI and hopefully my saves will run like a charm afterwards - so long as it doesn't give the Macedonians a new lease of life

[Edit 2] Installed BI and RS 1.5c on to BI, copied in save from Vanilla RTW/RS and played that no problem at all.
Created a new clean RTW/BI copy with a readme in that says what it is and how to change the name for patching - I may even read it next time!

Sometimes with the patches they only let you patch the game in the folder that you installed RTW in. So, for instance if you installed RTW to "c:\program files (x86)" and subsequently moved it then you need to put it back there and then patch it. I think that location may be buried somewhere in the Windows Registry.

The simple way is to patch the game to the level you want it and then do the copy - it's best to keep one copy 'clean' (vanilla) as well.
