Default Is there a special file to change settlement names?

Is there a special file to change settlement names? Because changing the regions and settlements files isn't working.... Is it a hidden resource of something?

Did you delete the text BIN files?

    What files have you changed?

You can change the names of existing provinces/settlements by altering one file only.

    DLV/data/text/imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names

Just change the name outside the brackets. Do not change the name inside the bracket! But you will have to delete the corresponding BIN file afterwards.

No worries, I figured it out. I'm making good progess!

One thing and it's rather silly. I want to change years to turns since the mod is pretty unhistorical. I changed it on the strat file but that hasn't done the trick... I don't know the right bin or there is another file I have to change that I don't know about. If anyone know how to do it, I'd appreciate the help.. The guys at the mod-work shop just said to change the strat file but it seems it is not as straight forward with DLV!

Odd. It is that easy. Did you start a new campaign?

I've found that if you open up the settlement (during the campaign screen), you can double click on the text of the city name and change it. I recently took Paris and changed the name to 'COCK'. It amused me everytime I saw it.

    Give it a try.

I know you can do that! But like Repman, want people to know which towns have the metropolis resource... In my mod only Dublin has it... and it's in the English Pale so you have to fight for it big time. When you get Dublin in my game it triggers a bunch of script. Some very cool stuff happens.

    What's the metropolist resource?!

It's a hidden resource that lets you set special conditions for a settlement. For instance you can set it so certain buildings can only built in one particular city (special buildings).... I'm actually finding other interesting ways to use it! I don't know if it's in vanilla or if Repman came up with it. He uses it to limit how big settlements can grow... Settlements can't grow to their top tier unless they have the metropolis resource. I think he does this so the map is more realistic late game (so every settlement on the map isn't maxed out. In DLV each faction only has one city and one castle that are 'Metropolis'.

Ah right, are these the cities that are spelt in capital letters?

YEP That's why I asked the question... I did figure it out. I changed it so that Ireland didn't have any metropolis city and one castle metropolis in Dublin... Dublin is the only big city in Ireland (even now Dublin is the only big city there). It's a beautiful country and I guess they like it that way! Well, I guess Belfast is pretty big but that's Northern Ireland. Basically only places the English controlled outright for a while developed that way.

Ooo you're making it tough for yourself there. Gives you a nice excuse to cross the Irish sea and wipe out Edinburgh though. Good thinking!

My Pagan Ireland is for the most experienced DLV players. It's going to make the Teuton campaign seem like a walk in the park
