    Default Armor Upgrades: In-Game Value

I've read somewhere that each armor upgrades each give 2.5 defense to the upgraded unit, but I can't for the life of me find the thread where this is mentioned. Maybe my searches are too broad...

    Anyway!

I wanted to know how much in-game armor value does each armor upgrade provide? The texts of, say, Pike Militias claim that they can be "very well protected" if you upgrade them to partial plate, but stat-wise they go to "3". And 3 is nothing compared to a Lancer's 19. So I was really wondering about this. If someone can clear this up for me, I'd really appreciate it!

AFAIK armour upgrades just add 1 to the unit's armour rating. You can see this on a unit's info card when you compare an upgraded unit to an un-upgraded one. The defense and shield values stay the same.

Each armour upgrade gives +1 armour. Thereīs this piece of code in the EDU (export_descr_unit), however:

    Code:
    ; stat_armour_ex Details of the man's defences
; armour factor. 4 values. First for base value, then 3 upgrade levels
That would mean that you can set the value of the unitīs armour when upgraded (which would lead to ultimate awesomeness)

However, in the original M2TW EDU, no unit uses this code, which leads me to think it is bugged/does not work

    (This... is... CA!)

You just wasted 4 seconds of your life reading this sentence. You'll read it again because it was so funny and waste another 4. And since you read that sentence, some more disappeared, count this sentence and it's 'nother couple. Good job time waster!

No, armor upgrades add 2 to the armor value, though it only shows as 1 on the unit card. This was confirmed by a lot of tests run by people here and at the .org, where it showed as between 2 and 2.5, and by Lusted from CA who said it was 2.

Really? That's good to know. Why didn't they just have the unit cards update with 2 instead of 1?

Because they are CA and it would have taken 30 seconds to fix. Make that 10 seconds.

Wait ... what? Damn, I never knew that and I've been playing for years ... and have always avoided armour upgrades thinking a 1 point increase would not be worth it.

If you are playing with RC, an armor upgrade makes a significant difference with the low attack values in use. This is intended.
