target: "C:\Activision\EB2\RomeTW.exe -mod:eb -show_err"
start in: C:\Activision\EB2

i'm afraid that your writing is a bit hard to follow admit it it is kind of hard reading with any form of punctionation don't you think i think so
Anyway, EB 1.2 has a feature called "The Trival Script". If you have installed the trivial script, the target line will not be normal, just press play single player if you want to play a campaign, and multiplayer for custom battles and multiplayer.
However, since your target line is correct, this will probably not be the case.
It is the start line that is wrong though and should say: "C:\Activision\EB2\Rome - Total War"
If your RTW installation is indeed in the EB2 folder.
On a side note: you know that this is EB1 and not EB2, do you?

You're English is as good or bad as mine. It's just the punctuation.
Do not install in Program Files when you have Vista though.
You don't need to reinstall either.
Just replace the "start in" with what I've posted and see if that works.
