this thread like the name is about 9/11 and today is 9/11.... Anyways i have read an news article about the fact that sicks have been discriminated against way more after 9/11 and so have Muslims and this has lead to allot of prejudice in America also recent events like famous Bollywood actor Sharuk Khan was stopped at an airplane for resembaling an middle eastern man and other events lead to ask. Why is america so discriminant to ethnic groups? i have felt some of this in my life but i haven't experienced some extreme cases like the stuff i hear in the news all the time and do you really think over time prejudice towards an ethnic group will end?

oh and can we keep the comments nice plz

Eh? The United States is one of the more tolerant countries in the West when it comes to integrating people of different cultures. Muslim integration has gone much more smoothly here than in Europe, though we're also talking about different numbers and different sources.

If you look at issues of race and ethnicity in the United States in say, the early 20th Century, compared to today, things are much better.

Although things are better it is still bad extensive research has showed sicks and Muslim and Indians have faced quite some prejudice and also issues like waterboarding and stuff like that has showed that the united states is't that tolerant. In my experience Canada and European countries are actually more tolerant now.

European countries? You mean the ones that have politicians openly declaring themselves against Islam and the ability of Muslims to even live in their countries? Or the ones that outlaw forms of Islamic dress? Please.

Muslims in America are not oppressed.. Far from it -- political correctness regimes have ensured that criticism of Islam is not a wide open topic -- the only indications we have to gauge are small-sample opinion polls and the sales of books by Islamophobes like Robert Spencer. Compare this to the 1920s, when overt racism towards entire ethnic groups -- Jews, Italians, Africans -- was simply a fact of life and an every-day occurrence.. something you could talk about on the street and read in the New York Times.

There is of course apprehension about Islam and Muslims amongst the general population in the U.S., but worse than Europe it is not.

And I have absolutely no idea what waterboarding has to do with this topic -- that's entirely irrelevant to the question of "tolerance."

I think you are underestimating the "evils of your country" although not everyone is horrible and america is a great country to live in there have been multiple examples of prejudice like for example a couple of years ago in Oklahoma city there was a bombing and i believe it was near a pre-school but on the news many people were convinced it was the work of Islamic extremist everyone went crazy they started to beat kids people up for being brown one instance was that a sick man got his trucked stopped he was pulled out and severely beaten another example was a woman had her neighbors bang on there windows and create a whole amount of ruckus throwin rocks in and aperently she had an emergency she was giving birth and her baby died in her house because of her neighbors white people also started to cause allot of violence even in schools. people had to move or where scared to go outside and all over the news there were stories of "how the community was recovering after a tragedy" and it turns out the guilty party was two white males. nobody went and beat up white people. Also in Detroit a Japanese man driving a Japanese imported car was pulled from his car and beaten to death.
Although united states of america may not be the only one to blame and it may be biased to say it was the cause. But there is allot of discrimination especially in america. I would also rather have people tell me that they don't like an ethnic group then have an american or any other politician of any country lie about it
