Default Books recommendations: Sharpe and the Osprey series

    Hello TWC,

I had been planning to purchase books from the Richard Sharpe and Osprey series, but was put off the high price of the titles. So, here's a question for those already own a copy of a title from either of the two series - do you think it's worth the purchase?

I've always had a fascination with the exploits of Richard Sharpe, and have already read another work by Bernard Cornwell called Azincourt. I've also heard about the renowned artwork featured in Osprey Publishing titles (Men-At-Arms appears to be the most promiment example) Does Osprey Publishing have a title that contains every single illustration from the series?

    Thanks for your help!

I'm a huge fan of the Osprey series, especially with ones with illustrations by Angus McBride. A good read for anyone interested in military history, at least as a jumping point. But as you say, they can get a little pricey.

Not that I'm aware of. Not to mention that would be incredibly expensive. I got a collection of Angus McBride's works, and that was around $40-50 (IRRC)

But I guess my best suggestion is to check their site

Hey there are these really cool buildings that are scattered around in most cities that let you borrow books for free!!!! Can't remember what they are called though.
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

I understand your point, Big War Bird , and I suppose it would be better to borrow a book, and then buy it if you really enjoy it.

Thanks for your input though! (I'm sure that local libraries around here carries titles from the Sharpe series, but I have yet to find any titles from Osprey Publishing)
