For instance, if I'm playing as the Macedonians, and I sail over to Croton and take it, will I be able to produce Crotonian hoplites?

I've returned--please forgive my long absence.
I've been wondering this myself. I like to garrison cities with indigenous troops anytime I can.
I think there are unique units in areas and cities which can be mutually recruit by all factions.

I thought that something like that was going to be implemented.
I think the old team had this planned.
that would be awesome. but i think only if Sparta has Sparta, that u should get Spartans. like if athens captured it they couldn't get them.

Well yes thats true, though a general allied-Hoplite unit will ruin the fact that dozens of Hoplite units have been made.
The original idea of the original creators was: If you capture a city with unique Hoplites after a while owning the city they will become available. You could then basicly see them as Tegeans, but yeah, generally wars weren't about getting into alliances or capturing all of the enemies territories.
well here it is how it is:
every faction will have 5-6 units of it own no matter which city it takes.
from there and after every city on the map has its unit, for example
if you have sparta and take the theban city orchomenos, you will be able to recruit
orchomenious hoplitai.i'm not exactly sure which units are going to be only for their own faction but
i think ,none is,if i remeber well every unit is recruitable from anyone that controls it's city.

Maybe you should make the elite units of each faction non recruitable for anyone else. It would be more realistic.
Also, I would like to ask a question, will you be able to raise your factional units in all of your cities or just the ones you start with?
"Blessed is he who learns how to engage in inquiry, with no impulse to hurt his countrymen or to pursue wrongful actions, but perceives the order of the immortal and ageless nature, how it is structured."
Euripides
"This is the disease of curiosity. It is this which drives to try and discover the secrets of nature, those secrets which are beyond our understanding, which avails us nothing and which man should not wish to learn."
Augustine
Awesome, that's exactly what I like to hear. I want to conquer Hellas with a heterogeneous force!well here it is how it is:

Maybe it would be possible, through the use of buildings, to choose between turning a conquered city into an "allied city" (recruit Corinthian units in Corinth, Athenian units in Athens, etc.), a "slave city" (recruit levy and missile troops only), or a "subject city" (recruit factional units only)? It would add a certain level of role-playing as well as realism, as you could choose between mimicking historical "alliances" or forming your own made up of whatever city states you choose.
After the fall of a city atleast two units of it's roster must be reqruitable...
1st: A levy unit (accontistae,sphendonitae,light cavalry etc)...
2nd: A hoplite unit (not ellite though)...
The reason behind this proposal is:
In ancient world there were no real exterminations of the coquered cities...
Pure people still joined the army no matter who the boss was...
Citizens (hoplites) joined the new rullers as symachoi (allie auxilias)...
Cities still existed in a type of confedaration and not as "native" people of the new rullers!
So lets asume that Nacedonians take control of a city out side their domain:
The levy unit of that city will replace the macedonian one and the city's regular holites the macedonian equals!
A city's popullation did not just disapeared instandlly!

TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
read this to avoid misunderstandings.
IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
