Default Will you include these settlements(new cities on the battlemap)?

    Hi guys ,

I've to say first that this mod is the one I really look forward too. This looks absolutly wonderfull.

I want to ask you something : Will you use these custom settlements for the largest cities of Europe at this time(11 th century) in the following link? : http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=122992

They look quite nice , and I think it would be really nice to have some custom settlements for the largest cities of this timeframe : Palermo , Cordoba , Ani , Jerusalem , Venise , Paris , Constantinople , Bagdhad ..

Do you know if they ever released any of this? Neither of the team members have signed in to twcenter in over a year. I've never heard of this project before. Anyone have any more information?

No, flogi http://www.twcenter.net/forums/member.php?u=31589 (creator of the battlemaps in question) never released these as a resource / minimod. However, his 'last activity' was on 7th September this year, so he's still signing in - haven't seen him post for about a year though...

Okay, I must have just looked at his last post date then. I'll PM him and see if he's interested in sharing his work.

With the battlemap editor isn't it possible to create new battlemaps?

You can use it to create new battle maps, but not new settlement plans. You have to make those manually, and it can be quite difficult to get the pathfinding and collision detection to work properly.

So for example, if someone where to use the battlemap editor to create a new battlemap, what else would need to be done in order for it to work properly in the game?

Assign the model to the specific culture and type of settlement and it will be used in-game.

We were supposed to get his work when the Basileia mod was taken over by DOTS, but Flogi has never given me the files and despire me trying to get in touch with him now and again- he never repiles. He must be content to never release his work and doesn't care that it was all for nothing, because no one can enjoy it.
Yes, his work is very good.

The other problem with these unique maps is that if you take Constantinople and rip down the walls etc, the following year if you attack the city again it will have exactly the same defences and so on for the battle map. Mkaing several levels of development for each settlement would take a lot of time to then code to campaign map tile. I am not even sure if it is possible to make several battle maps

    Shame he doesen't reply. (N)
Tbh though I think the benefits outway the drawbacks, considering how dissapointing vanilla settlements are...

Elite settlements just could start out with huge city wall and voilą, done! (provided you get those Basilea settlements, first)

if it's very complicated and doesn't make much sense in the campaign, what about creating a custom battle option to play out sieges in these cities? or at least the historical battle the siege of constantinople? That way we could at least see the splendour of these cities even if the campaign does not contain them

Er guys, have you read what Hross wrote? Some time ago Basilea mod was to be merged with Dominion, but it did not happen and Basiela just died out. Initially we were to take over the custom settlements made by Flogi, but he did not give them to us and stated that he intended to release them to general public. He did not do that either and did not respond ever since.

So despite we all wish for custom battle settlements, it probably will never be feature of Dominion. It is not planned and we do not have anyone who could actually do it anyway. It could only be part of Dominion if we found someone capable of doing it and dedicated enough to actually pull the work. And that is very very unlikely to happen...

maybe you should ask Inarus , the author of this settlement , which looks awesome , to integrate the team as a mapper for the new settlements?

It's just a suggestion , I want to help this mod getting better and better.
