All Generals suddenly bent on glory

Hey all ive brought this problem on myself by installing to SS 6.1 with RR/RC (from the installer) and then overwriting files using the 2TPY files for the latest version of RR/RC (obviously not the same version as from the installer). For some reason now once I conquer, say, my 2nd settlement with the same general, and he gets the "Bent on Glory" trait, which is fair enough, all the other generals also get the trait at the same time, which leaves me with many disloyal generals, not the best way to start the game. Can anyone tell me the file that is used to apply traits to characters, as it appears that it dishes the same trait to everyone, rather than the 1 person who should have it.

That file is export_descr_character_traits. I think that this could be modified this way:
(search that trait by pressing Ctrl+F)

AntiTraits Turnshome
Level Bent_On_Glory
Description Bent_On_Glory_desc

Threshold 4
Effect Loyalty -1
Effect TroopMorale 1

Change that "4" to "1" for example. I believe that it is the chance of getting that trait.
Of course this works with other traits too.

Thanks, although thats more of a quick fix than an outright solution, as the effect will still apply to every general, but just less often. What i really need is the code that takes this trait and applies it to all my generals, even ones acting as Governors, rather than the 1 doing all the fighting.

Actually it's not. The chances for getting the trait are located in the trait's trigger, not where the trait is defined.

And you shouldn't delete traits from the traits file. It's much safer to just delete the trigger(s) so that the trait is never given to anyone. Deleting traits themselves will crash any game where the trait is currently in use by a character. It can also stop the loading of a new game if the trait is used for a starting character (in which case you also need to edit the descr_strat.txt)

Delete the whole text ( = remove that trait from the game).

Actually those suggestions wont work.
If all your generals suddenly got bent on glory then it is indicative of a serious misinstallation, and that wont be the only trait affected, just the only one you can currently see.
The answer is to reinstall correctly.
Bent on glory, incidentally has more important advantages than can be seen in the stats (it enables the general to remian in the field for an extra 8 turns before it eventually drops back to default morale or begins to, lose any).

Why not? If I remove that trait from the whole game (and I believe that's the file where it must be done), no one can get it.

Yeah as I said I know my "installation" method wasnt most desirable, using 2TPY files for a later version of RR/RC on and older version, basically involved me backing up stuff like the EDB and settlement_mechanics and copying over the files one by one with the new files to see what worked, and editing if needed. Ive sort of got round it now by not copying over the character_traits file at all, just means I dont have lord's estates, personal wealth, tax etc.
