I just observed that my rtw folder(with rs2.0)is 8.31 GB big.I use BI,but it used to be not more than 5.4GB.What could be the problem?

It's probably the UI folder that makes it so much bigger. Because it's extracted from the pak file, all of the files are their original size, and it gets quite a bit bigger than the original pak file. Also, all of the landscape textures, strat map textures, trees, grass, etc are higher resolution files (and therefore bigger files), so quite a bit gets added to your original install. If you are strapped for disk space, the BI directory is not necessary for RS2 to run. Rename it 'BI_OLD', run the game just to make SURE everything works OK (run it with the BI EXE as well), and if all is well you can delete the BI directory. RS2 breaks BI anyway, so you can't run BI in it's original form.

And if I deleat the BI directory, then will I be able to play RS2 on the Bi engine?Or will the enemy be atleast that smart,to make naval invasions?

Yes, that sounds right. If you want to confirm this simply move the BI folder outside of the game folder and run RS. If it doesn't work (which I doubt) simply move it back.

Are you that short of space?

Well considering the quality of the renders we're getting, probably means some of the visual files are bigger right? Not to mention all of the extra unit and faction files, and god knows how many other 'additions' (as opposed to simple revisions) have been made.

Maybe you were looking at just the /data file to begin with or something.

My install of RS2 is 5.24 gig. That INCLUDES the BI directory. If you have 8 gig....well, I don't know where that would come from.

thats what i said when he mentioned it in the download thread.

My install of RS2 beta (I did an SVN update a few minutes ago) is 8.63Gb with 94,088 files and 5,694 folders. I have a RTW BI install which I used to install RS2.0 beta over. I don't have RTW Alexander in this install.

The RTW 1.5 RTW BI 1.6 'clean' install is 3.17gb with 19,442 files and 496 folders.

EDITED: I deleted all the files in the data folder as instructed in the way to implement SVN (so the files haven't been left around). My 'c' drive is NTFS (and not FAT32).

Mine has over 8 gigs, too. Clean install of BI 3,5 gigs + RSII download 2,4 gigs = 8 gigs. The laws of math rewritten by the RS team?

Mine is around 8 gigs as well. I think it's because of the files generated by SVN. Some sort of cache.

I also forgot about the new music.....which of course will add a considerable bit to the install.
