    Default Pat Buchanan and MSNBC

Why are there so many people out there advocating that Pat Buchanan be thrown off the msnbc whenever he says something that they do not agree with?

I mean, surely there are bigger fish to fry.... so why Pat?

Hm? What specifically are you talking about? I dont agree with Pat much but he rarely talks out his ass and usually has pretty solid reasoning for what he says...so what did he get in trouble for this time? Besides how can one get in trouble on MSNBC with Mathews and Olberman on there? Would be like Fox dumping Brit Hume while OReilly screamed and howled.

Pat is not saying anything different than historians like AJP Taylor argued.

Oh Young Turk, notorious for inflating things. Pat does have a history for speaking his mind on WW2 though and it isnt often politically correct. Reading the article in question on twitter site (MSNBC removed it from their website http://buchanan.org/blog/did-hitler-want-war-2068). I disagree completely with him but nothing in there to be fired over. So alot of noise about nothing.

Yeah, but it does not answer my question as to why they are targeting him. I mean, I have socialistic tendencies, but I do not mind Pat at all. He is a genuine intellectual and a somewhat of a rarity in that fact for someone that is on American cable news channels. Seeing that most American news "pundits" recieve their orders from either the Democratic strategists or the republican strategists, why of all people who they choose to pick on, would it be Pat Buchanan?

Pat made a few interesting points, but he is still absolutely wrong. Still, nothing different about what he said here and Reilly, Rush, and Beck says every other day. These lines grab ratings and thats what sells.

Buchanan is a class above these guys in intellectual capacity, but why would they target him and not these guys, and include Hannity there too.

Hannity a ratings grabber too, remember when he got upset because Obama said were not a christian nation.

Anyway, remind me what ADL stands for?

Anti-Defamation League, I just looked it up.

    hmmm.. weird mission statement

"The mission of the Anti-Defamation League is to stop the defamation of the Jewish people, to secure justice and fair treatment to all citizens alike."

So defamation of blacks, Irish and Italians is ok so long as they get justice and fair treatment

Ok so you asked why does the ADL go after Buchanen, well their mission, like you said, is to stop the defamation of the Jewish people. Also you asked why dont the ADL go after others like Hannity and Rush, and Reilly. Well I know groups do go after them. Jones went after Beck before he was forced to resign. Liberals go after these folks all the time when they say something stupid.

Yes I know and conservatives attack liberals all the time, but they rarely call for each other's sacking. So why pick on Buchanan?

I think they call for each other sacking all the time. Beck called Obama racist earlier and some people called for his resignation. However, for Beck he says something stupid every day.

Besides people can call for his sacking all they want but hes on tv and tv controversies bring in ratings and he wont get sack. Unlike politicians. They can be sacked for things they said or signed many years ago.

The reason why Pat Buchanan is that way is because he is a Paleo-Conservative. He wants to bring America back to the golden age of pre-WWII. Very strick non-interventionism and God and Jesus as part of government.

“Nothing could be more dangerous to the existence of this Republic than to introduce religion into politics”

I usually disagree with Pat's positions, but he does go through the intellectual exercise of taking in facts and then using reasoning and anaylsis to come up with his position. Sure, he lets in personal bias to his reasoning but don't we all?

This is juxtaposed to other pundits who have a pre-existing notion, and try and shape facts/events into that notion, and if such facts don't exist, they just invent them.
