U2 or Coldplay?

I know a lot of people hate both of these bands for various reasons, but on a musical level, which band do you think is better, which would you have more time to listen to.


Now I have always preferred U2, not because they were Irish but I always felt Coldplay were a cheap immitation of U2. Altough I adore Coldplay, not just nostalgically, but they have some genuinely good songs, songs I can really relate to and remember the period of time in my life i listened to them. Also, I grew up with Coldplay. Yet, I prefer U2's music.

I am not putting a "neither" option because I just want you to answer which one you prefer without being silly.

Anyone who says Coldplay in this poll should be dragged outside and introduced to the firing squad.

Coldplay's earliest work was their best, just like U2. Both of these bands are now mediocre. U2 for longer.

I love Beautiful World. It's such a good song. Maybe not lyrically complicated, but whatever. The beat is good and it reminds me of good times.

Yep, Coldplay is just a cheap copy of U2.

I love this song.

Aye, best song from their new album. Where The Street's Have No Name is their best song though. The lyrics and meanings are great.

amazing song alright. Love it. My only claim to fame with U2 is that my friends Uncle is a good friend of Bono

He went to his mansion in France once and the swimming pool was bigger than my house!

U2 just for Joshua Tree.

U2 are way better. My favorite song is Pride (In the Name of Love).

Coldplay sucks.

Eire don't compare! Coldplay and U2 are two completely different bands, its like comparing Jonny Cash and Madonna nothing in common.

U2 for me , although Coldplay's good to

Coldplay by default.

I have most U2 albums but it's just 30 years of bland averageness.

Coldplay aren't exactly amazing but each of their albums are fairly enjoyable and live they manage to be great just by sheer enthusiasm.



It's funny you mention Johnny Cash, Coldplay wrote this for him

It's just more open, honest and natural than anything U2 have ever did.

One of coldplays videos was quite entertaining (it was a stopmotion animation style) the song was ok I admit, but I hate the bands music on the whole

This dude's critique of U2 is pathetic at best. Sure, he has the sound from Joshua Tree down, but there are tons of other songs that sound different. I'll grant they use a lot of effects driven stuff, but who doesn't? Should Cream be ridiculed for their use of the wah-wah pedal?

Coldplay are amazing live and the piano does it for me.

Well it's not really me genre but I prefer U2. Coldplay just doesn't really "get me" if you know hat I mean

Oh U2 actually makes music! I thought their concerts consisted only from Bono telling to everyone they should do the right thing. Not THE right thing of course but only what he thinks is the right thing.
