    Default UV Map Issue

Is there any way to fix this problem without having to completely remap?

Why would you have to completely remap? Just unweld those particular vertices and drag them back to where they belong.

By the way, the reason the UV Mapping distorts them in this way is that those model vertices are welded. Unweld them there, and they should be free to independently move around in UV Mapping.

Thanks for the response. I am aware of what caused the problem and I've unwelded the vertices but that doesn't fix the UV map problem. I don't know how to select the particular vertices in the UV mapping window without selecting the vertices they were welded to, so I don't know how to fix the problem without remapping which I obviously don't want to do. Perhaps the solution is something simple that I'm just not aware of.

You have trouble selecting the individual vertices, though unwelded, because they're still located in the same exact space. So when you drag-select, you highlight all of them anyway. To only move the vertex that you need to, click once on the vertex pile, and drag a vertex away. Click once again, and drag another one way, until you get to the vertex that you need.

    Okay, sounds easy then. Thanks!

EDIT: Maybe it wasn't that easy. I can't seem to select by simply clicking in Milkshape Texture Coordinate window. I guess it will probably work if I do it in Lithuwrap though. I should have specified the program I was using.

I know people think they need to use Lithunwrap, but I find Milkshape's UV window suitable for all my needs.

Ok so assuming that you're in the Texture Coordinate window, and the UV coordinates are displaying, on top of a texture. To select a vertex you don't just click on it (as done in some other programs). Click the "Select" button first, and then you will be able to select.

That's odd because I did use the select button first (and made sure that I was in select mode). Maybe there is something wrong with my install or some settings.

I should be able to select a vertex by clicking on it in the texture coordinate window when I'm in select mode, correct? If that's what you are saying, it's not working. I'm only able to select by dragging across vertices.

Hmmm, actually I just tried it again, and you're absolutely right. I was thinking of 3DSMax where you could select it individually....

Oh well consider Lithunwrap after all
