The Roman Invasion of Britain
Are there any in depth accounts of the Invasion of Britain as it was a sizeable land gain for Rome and was surprised to find little analyisis of the invasion apart from the Ecini rebellion later on. I am interrested in the battles fought (all i am aware of is two battles at separate river crossings), I am also curious to how the Romans preformed in there battles aainst the Britons I know that Watling Street gives an indcation of Roman supriority but wondered if it was not just a one of win. also are there any casulty reports for either side?

Re: The Roman Invasion of Britain
The Roman accounts are scant and often seem to be copies of one another.
The most indepth modern analysis I'm aware of is 'Conquest: the Roman invasion of Britain' by John Peedle. No casualties are given by ancient authors, but it is notable that in the battle of the Medway, the Britons apparently came close to winning, and held their own for two days even when being assaulted on both flanks. It also took the Romans 20+ years just to pacify southern Britain, and they continued maintaining a massive garrison, possibly the largest per capita of any province, so it seems the Britons were more formidable and rebellious than the surviving sources indicate.
PS - it's not totally clear whether the two river battles you mention were seperate, the Roman descriptions are so alike some historians think they are one battle that somewhow got split into two over the centuries of one Roman historian borrowing from another.

Re: The Roman Invasion of Britain
So the lack of information on the campaigns may indicate a lot trouble experienced by Rome? because from the information given they dont seem to hve had an easy time but Rome is well known for accounting defeats even embarissing ones quite well. But i have read two books each taking a different side one has Britons nearly outnumbered in a stand on the medway which they almost won and that they inflicted huge casulties on rome greater than there own. The other (simon Scarrow and yes i know it is in part fictional) has the romans fighting hard and challanged but always firmly in control and winning despite being heavily outnumbered.

Well... firstly you're focusing on only one invasion of Britain, the third one and the only success. Secondly you are focusing far too much on the military side, when in fact several British Kings were willing clients of Rome before Claudius' invasion, and secondly it was over a period of some time, not instant.
