Default Crash right after a battle

Maybe this is posted many times before, yet i haven't been able to find any related problems that matches mine. If this is a common question, sorry for asking

Me and a friend of mine are really hooked to EB (how can we not be?)
Yet we both encounter CTD's right after having fought like 1 out of the 10 battles. This ofcourse is really annoying, esspecially when fighting a live-time battle.

I believe the crash happens when switching from battle to campaign. Normally you see the screen get black for an inch of a second when loading out the battle and loading in the campaign map. Only at a random interval, i get a crash at that moment.

    Im running Visa x64.
The game is installed under: G:\Games\RTW\Rome - Total War - EB
Im an admin and UAC is off
    CPU:Q6600 with 4 gigs of mem and a ATI Radeon 3870;
A soundblaster xfi is also in the mix.

I tried the fixes which dont fix this problem. I also red something about saving right before a battle. Only i let autosave do the work so i never save manually (can i assume this isn't a problem?)

Also, the event viewer is rather unclear and i dont think anything usefull is in there.

Another thing to add is that i have not yet used the validator (rather i reinstalled multiple times) because i dont have java installed.

I really hope someone can help me out here,

    Many thanks in advance,
    Polity

I myself had got CTDs so much that I have to save at every turn .The reasons for CTDs are variaty, but there are some way to avoid it. I dont remember quite well where I read it, so I cant give you the exact link. But these are the ways I use to reduce crash:
    1. After right click (attack) at enemy in campaign map ,wait a bit before actually go to battle map. If you autoresolve, you dont need to wait. The purpose of that is to avoid CTDs before battle. Give your computer some time to adjust changes
    2. The same for after battles. Wait a bit before click "ok" to return to campaign map. Some say wait 10-20 seconds, some say wait til the music end...Well, I find it depend on player's computer .I myself wait after music a bit more time
(Waiting is not that boring. In waiting before battle, I watch UI card to entertain..also getting more knowledge .After battle I view close to my troops. It's fun ,after all. No need to rush)
    Good luck, bro

Also wait a bit between battles especially on the AI turn, In any case 1 CTD out of every 10 battles isnt so bad, they are just part of the game and no matter what you do its unlikely that you will be able to completly stop them. you can also check out this thread on the issue Some ideas to help performance in EB.

Sometimes battles with three or more armies cause crashes due to trait calculation after the battles. This used to be very common in EB but bovi found most of the problems. It is now rare but still occurs. If there are three or more armies, you could try to ensure any enemy generals are killed, but you may need to just auto_calc the battle. (You can use the auto_win attacker or auto_win defender cheat codes if to ensure the outcome you would have gotten if you played it, though probably with more losses.)
