when i try start a new campaign it says pick an item from the list but there is no list i click the tick box to close the message and it goes back please help me

It means the rtw or bi version you have is not the one you need, but an older one. To play RTRPE you need to have rtw v1.5 and bi v1.6(which is not necessarily, but optional). You need to patch your game to v1.5/v1.6.

I`m sorry, but that`s what the select an item from the list message means. Please go the the Options menu after starting RTW(not BI) and look in the upper right corner. What version is written there? ver.1.5 or ver.1.3?

If you got the game as part of a collection(Gold, Gold 2, Anthology, Eras etc.) could you please say which?

You need to patch it to ver1.5, otherwise it won`t work. If you have the Rome Anthology collection take a look at this:

If that`s your case try applying the BI v1.6 patch(it also upgrades RTW to v1.5) and see if it allows you to. If not the only solution I can think of is to uninstall and only reinstall RTW, without BI.
