How do you defeat pike/phalanxes?
So I use the greek faction a lot, and naturally, Macedon is a problem. I'm finding it difficult to fight phalanx vs. phalanx. I know you're supposed to hold an enemy phalanx in place with your phalanx, and let lighter militia/sword hoplites, cavalry, missiles flank; but the flanking hoplites i send are intercepted by the 2nd row of macedonian phalanxes. So does anyone have a decent tactic to beat a virtually full stack army of phalanxes, when using primarily phalanx armies in the first place?

hi you said your flanking hoplites are intercepted by there second row. You may want to send your flanking forces in groups. one attacks first while the other stays a safe distance away to intercept or flank intercepting units that way if the opponent intercepts one force you can send more to hammer and anvil or at least flank the interceptor and maybe you can break through and assist you main line but basically every time he intercepts you have another unit flank him instead it may or may not work it works well if you have greater numbers

Also, slingers and javelinmen in general can do VERY BIG damage

Yes allthough the thing about macedonian phalanxes against phalanxes, is everything about the numbers.
You also can try some hit and run tactics with some light troops, javelins work pretty well, as well slingers. not to mention cavalry.
