which age has what units?

I like playing with units that can get gothic and advanced armor types but i dont like those frilly looking pikemen who wear no armor. on the other hand i liked using the basilisks and cannons. which age should i play in to get the most "medieval" units while at the same time eventually playing with advanced cannons? i know its no the Renaissance so is it high or late?

You can see the roster for most factions in the custom battle set-up. If I remember right it will show for which era each unit is available.

this game wont load a custom battle. it just gets stuck at the screen before the battle.

you sure? coz i started 1 by accident and it loaded, took a little longer than usual but it loaded
