It says they use the meat. So I don't really see the problem.

What else are you supposed to do with them? Waste them by throwing them into the wild and destabilizing the environment ya live in?

    Also, welcome.

Well, the video does show these chicks being handled rather rough, like they are unbreakable, lifeless objects.
Moreover, whenever fluorescent square motion is required, it may also be employed in conjunction with the drawn reciprocation dingle arm, to reduce sinusoidal depleneration.

I see a lot of videos that show spiders and leaves getting handled much worse.

    K?

Perhaps you should report the posters of said video to the police.

Well, this ''grinding alive'' isn't exactly a slow process - looks like it takes about 0.2 of a second, so it's akin to a quick death whatever way it's done.

I'm not really sure what they are expected to do - give them a last meal, then strap them to a tiny gurney and lethally inject them?

The grinding did indeed seem like an instant death process. I was more suprised with the manner the workers handled them.

Then perhaps having to handle 20000 of them may not be the way to go. It's not like all farms are set up this way.

So let's go for only having chicken in 11 states.

Matter of fact, let's go for not eating meat at all.

Why? Because some people think it's mean.

Matter of fact, some people think killing veggies is mean. So let's only eat fungi.

So choose your lines here dude.

No chicken? 10000 chickens a day? 5000? No meat? What?

    Dark meat and light meat.

Industrialized food production is one of the wonders of the world. Its no more inhumane than what a 'normal' farmer does every day, and a hell of a lot more efficient making it so even the poorest can eat meat.

My grandfather would throw calves that died of some sickness in the back of his old truck drive them to a deserted spot on the property and heave them into the brush. At least the chicks are being "recycled." The calves were a total loss. Farmers frequently discard stillborn or sick animals. Some things simply can't be saved.
To be governed is to be watched, inspected, directed, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, and commanded, by creatures who have neither the right, wisdom, nor virtue to do so. To be governed is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, taxed, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, admonished, reformed, corrected, and punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted, and robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, abused, disarmed, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, and betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, and dishonored. -Pierre-Joseph Proudhon

I've worked in abottoirs and piggeries. There was one old guy there whose job was to clean up blood all day long beneath the killing floor. He wore a tent-thing on his head and just walked around dripping in blood.

Humans eat meat. End of story. If we allow a lion to eat an antelope because it's the natural way then when humans kill and eat that's perfectly natural also.

Many animals tend to maul and bring down their prey in what we could call a sadistic manner. But that's okay by them and us. When we do it.....some would like to squeal "inhumanity!"

Fine, as long as we call the actions of a lion ''inhulionry!''

+rep Boof. What's with all this "eating meat is inhumane"? It's very much humane, because humans are omnivorous animals.

Many species kill (and even eat) their young when they don't have the resources to rear them, so abortion is moral (and eating it afterwards is okay too).

Male lions kill the cubs of other males when they take over the pride, so killing your stepchildren is moral.

Black Widows kill their mates, so killing your spouse is moral.

Male dolphins will rape and sexually enslave females of their species, so rape and sexual slavery are moral.

Can anyone spot the flaw in my reasoning? +rep for the answer!

There is no flaw in your reasoning.

Assuming we're using a moral system based on nature.

I personally, don't like natural moral systems, and prefer moral systems based on betterment of society and lockean philosophy. How bout you guys?

If you have to assume something extra to get rid of the flaw in my reasoning, then there is a flaw in my reasoning.

But even if we use a "moral system based on nature" (whatever you mean by that), the fact that dolphins do something doesn't mean humans can, any more than the fact you do something always means I can.

But anyway, if boofhead and co. want to justify things based on the fact that other animals do them, to be consistent they need to accept all the consequences of that idea.

I don't totally base my existence on the comparison I made. In fact I believe animals are there for us to eat. It's like we live on a giant dinner plate.

The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands.
That's not to say I think unnecessary cruelty is justified. But , if I'm hungry enough I'd eat my own pet.

Yes, and you are here for worms and bacteria to eat.

I imagine you'd eat a lot more than that if you were hungry enough (so would I, come to think of it). But we're not talking about what people actually do or would do.
