I'd like to take a sample of TWC's members opinions.

Basically, what branch of the different levels of government do you consider the most important for the US?

Edit: Poll added. Feel free to choose.

    dayam straight

i'd say the military is important first and foremost since they will inevitably maintain order and order is vital for any sort of society to succeed.
i mena given the types of skills the military has (engineers, architects, scientists, medics, soldiers), they could build and equip a small town from nothing in a matter of weeks.

i give my vote to the Enclave

THe idea of american government is that no one peice of government holds more power than another, it is the system of checks and balances.

Considering that each branch can't properly function without the other two anybody picking a most important branch is fooling themselves.

I am unfortunately no American, but I believe that Congress is the most important branch. The ability to actually create the legislation via a House and Senate vote is an imperative. If there were only the Executive Branch, any president could issue Holy Writ and the nation would follow as unto a dictator. If there were only the Judicial Branch, the Constitution of your nation would be essentially meaningless, and rulings from the Bench would be Holy Writ. However, with Congress there is a certain process that I believe to be extremely important - men must debate the issues and vote in concert for or against bills.

Having said that, I love all parts of the U.S. system. Ignoring the current corruption and statism rampant in all three of them, I would have to say that the trilateral system is extremely important. +rep to the Founding Fathers.

I'll be different and say the supreme court as it validates the actions of the other branches.

    dumb poll
Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

Judicial, since they have started legislating from the bench and no one can challenge them.

I also say the Supreme Court. They keep an eye on the other two branches. The President and Congress must toe the Constitutional line. That is also why it is imperitive to have Justices that can judge blindly and fairly in their rulings while adhering strictly to the Constitution. The Law is the most powerfull weapon.

Considering that the Executive Branch can, and has ignored the other 2, they're the most powerful.

On the other hand, I believe that 4,5, and 6 are the most important since almost all the things that the first 3 do are usually delegated to the state governments to actually implement.
