...I was just wondering what the currency of Middle-Earth was. In the game it uses florins, did Tolkein ever name a currency of Middle-Earth? Is florins correct? Can it be changed in the mod?

I think it doesn't even matter, and i am sure orcs didn't really have had some...
This is all we have afaik. FA:TW uses the term Mirian.

I like Mirian -- it's much better than florins!
Yes but it would make tatw look lame for copying fatw ideas and we need to soften the blow for when tatw shamelessly steals fatw's ship models and descriptions.
But in all seriousness Castar or Mirian would be much more preferable to florins. Mirian does sound better, those Sindar words just tend to be "softer".
And before someone complains that not all factions use Gondor currency tell me how many M-E peoples use frikken florins?
EDIT: Looks like I was too late.
Yeah but isn't that just for gondor and some elves? Maybe if it is changed it should just be a broad term like "Wealth" or "Coins".

Simple "gold pieces", or something similar, would do nicely I think...
They used Silver coins...

I redeem my Air Miles for rewards like ballistae, archers and town halls. I need to buy Eldar Archers and Spearmen anyway, so why not earn while you spend!
I went onto thetolkeinforums.com and found that the mirian was an Elvish name for a currency. Idon't see why thats copying FA:TW since they copied it from Tolkein (what this Mod is doing anyway).
I think they used silver, copper and gold pennies in the northlands, according to arda encyclopaedia.
Just "Gold" or "Gold Pieces" would work for me.
But it would be nice if it would fit in the Tolkien universe. A bit of googling later I found a Sindarin dictionary.

is it possible that the word could be different for each culture, just as a small touch to make each faction/culture a bit different?
