    Default family history

Hmm, not sure where to put this but, I'm doing some research on my last name,it is Heinrichs. I know it is of german origin but I've heard that some Bohemian, moravian, and Czech families also used it. Does any one know anyhting about this?

Heinrich is (and was since the Middle Ages) a very common German first name. "Heinrichs" as a family name would mean "belongs to Heinrich", what would either be children of a certain Heinrich or could also be serveants of a certain Heinrich. I don't think that "Heinrich" could be a Czech name, so regardless to where the family roots can be traced, the origin of the family name must be somewhere in Germany.

It's probably surname of Germans from Czech and Moravia, not the ethnic Czechs.

i don't know much about my family.

i've been told that somwhere in the early 19. century,a merchant from montenegro killed a couple of Turks becaused they harassed his wife.so he escaped to serbia, got St.Andrea as his house saint, and changed his surname to Andrejic.i know that 3 members of my family died in WW1,and that in WW2,my family was divided betwen Chetniks and Partisans

    That's everything interesting.

Nowdays we're all around the Globe.Russia,Italy,Austria,in search for a better life.

I should search about my family and my roots, but i never have time to do it.

    about your name,i'm not sure,but it's sure it's a German surname.

Interesting it seems that almost every Serbian family has some story like that, in my mother's family case their ancestor from Herzegovina killed some Turk and then he fled with his family to Serbia. Blood feuds and revenges were on of the main reasons for migrations in central Balkans in Turkish period.

Actually most parts of Serbia, except eastern and south parts, were repopulated in 18 and 19 century by Serbs from Montenegro, Herzegovina, Kosovo-Metohija and Macedonia because most of original Serb population from Serbia proper migrated to southern Hungary, present day Vojvodina leaving most of Serbia almost deserted.

i know, but i remember seing that map,and i was amazed that my region had a rather great % confronting to other regions.but yeah, families that never moved from their original areas are very rare,or they don't exist at all.

I know that the Russian side of my family come from Don Cossack host.

And that the Ukrainian side were just peasants.

But Caucasian side is uncertain. I've only spoken to my grandfather, don't know any of his relatives. But he says there's a family story that their family originated from an Ottoman vizier who fled to the northern Caucasus after some court intrigues. Probably made up, to claim some noble background, but still interesting to imagine

Actually Germans lived all over Czech lands, particulary in the cities, not only in the
'' Sudetenland '' ( which is artificial and incorrect term for part of Czech with relative German majority ).

It means nothing, save for the fact that the family originally came from Germany. As I said, "Heinrichs" means that once back in history your people either were the children or serveants of a certain Heinrich.
