    Default Wedge for Infantry?

I was wondering if it is possable to give the Cimbri (and quite possibly the other celt/germanic factions) the ability to form a wedge, because in some of the descriptions I've noticed that it mentions the tactics that the "barbarians" used to attempt to smash through the enemy's lines. and It'd be awsome to see this feat being undertaken by a bunch of blood crazed men of the forests. Not to mention it would be more historically accurate as well

....yeh I could imagine the RTW engine having problems trying to do this. I have always wanted to see the svinfylka in a mod but that is also fairly impossible.

You can give it to an infantry unit, but the game ignores it.

Can't you make an infantry unit that is actually cavalry ? Then again, I have no idea how these thing are set.

I presented this same question to the developers of VI2 and I got a bit of an answer from someone on how to implement the "wedge" with infantry. but I was a little dissapointed with its complexity instead of the simple click of the special formation button...

here's the thread I opened in VI2 regarding this question. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=276920

    Wow, fascinating.
We certainly could do with someone working on the AI formations file to implement something like that for the Cimbri.

Speaking of infantry formations... I've always thought that Roman Legionnaires should get the 'Shield Wall' ability like the Kentroaken Spearmen or whatever they are called. I mean the whole reason why the Legions were so succesful, among other things, was that they had discipline and could hold the line in most circumstances. Shield Wall would help reflect this, and it would look sweet... I took a snap of the Kentroakens in a shield wall (they have rectangle shields similar to romans) and it looked very nice.

You can't give them another special formation. Rtw only allow a unit to have one.
    They already got the testudo.

Altough,is there somebody who actually uses the testudo? The romans are already resistent to arrow fire from the front and on the sides too.I would use the shield wall more frekvently.

What if spear-armed Roman Auxilary got shield wall instead of Testudo? Would make sense as a defense vs. cavalry...

The testudo is priceless during sieges.

sieges and it was very useful in the old version of rs i used it as well any infantry unit was destroyed by javelins so i used it then and saved me 100s of men but then agfain you could also say shield wall is just as useful for different occasions

Bah, who needs wedge anyway, when you can make this.
