How to recruit Spartans?

Hello everyone,
i hope this hasn't been asked too often, but I have a problem:
I am playing a Greek Campaign and am in the 500 something years AUC. I conquered Sparta years ago ( in turn 20 or something) and it has developed to a huge city. I built the best barracks i could - i think it's militia barracks but i'm not sure though - but i can't recruit Spartans. I neither can upgrade the barracks.
What did i miss? Do I have to develop some other building before i may built better barracks?

Ehhh Ok man I dont know what is happening to your game but the Spartan Hoplites are available to recruit from the moment you built the City Baracs, which are the second upgrade to the lowes baracs that you would have in a village. Tell me how long have you been playing Rome TW?

If you want better barracks, you should develop farms.

check the requirements in the building scroll, yeah you need to upgrade the farms

Upgrade your farms +1, then you can build city barracks and then you will have mighty spartans to kick macedon's arse...

yep nothing to feel bad about i remember my first campaign all those years ago riddled with mercs and dept absolutely horifying now i think about it
