Need your help on photo

I do not want to creep anybody out here, but I was sifting through some family archives that my brother had compiled before his passing. Tucked away was a photo of a warship and on the back in my fathers script was;

HMS Hood, July 1941.

Hood was lost in May / 41 which got me wondering how dad got the date wrong. He being a pharmacist ( chemist to you blokes across the pond ) was very meticulous in his record keeping. Anyway I sent an e-mail with scan of pic to Frank Allen of the HMS Hood Association and just this morning received confirmation that it is indeed HMS Hood.
He has asked for a larger blowup of the photo ( centered on Hood itself ) so that they can analyse for more detail. But I am not capable of smoothing , sharpening etc. Can anyone help me?

Wow that's a great find mate! I can give you a hand later on tonight when I'll be back from work. I would suggest to try and rescan the image at 300dpi, I know it will be huge but this will help me out a lot. Make it as big as rapidshare allows you ha ha ha and send it my way you have my email right?

PS. Do you have any other details where was this picture taken? I wonder about the other ship... looks like a cruiser gee you got me hooked mate. I was always fascinated by the big ships though I hate water ha ha ha

Well don't try to send the image directly to my email as it will not pass through (10MB yahoo limit) upload it on rapidshare and send me the link and I'll take it from there.
