Weapon selections
I have been trying to use Hoplites,ie Marcel's,and others with Javelin & Spear compostion.
In using:
stat_pri 8, 3, no, 0, 0, melee, simple, piercing, spear, 25 ,0.53
stat_sec 7, 1, javelin, 50, 6, thrown, archery, piercing, spear, 25 ,0.75
As example,does not work and vica verca. I find the javelins used up(pri slot),no weapon remains(sec slot),and if Javelins in sec slot,missile type is not shown,only spear(pri slot).
My belief now is Missile can only be triggered in pri slot-or else no ammo & fire at will option(on battle screen).
So how to correctly use a Javelin or Pilum/Spear mix???? Is it possible????

Missile weapons can only be primary, long known. And of course the model used must have two skeletons attached to it, one for missile, one for melee.

Sorry Aradan I did not know primary only..aghh. Two weapons enabled,but still with Javelin in pri slot,the sec Spear weapon will not show when no ammo left,so I am confused. My hoplites attack bare handed..aghh. The javelin&Spear sharing same weapon type on model seems a problem?

The model probably has only one skeleton then.

I suspect that marcel and for that matter most modellers will have made hoplites to carry a spear and a sword. When modelling you can only put two weapons on the model named primary weapon and a secondary weapon. When using the model the game doesnt know what these weapons are. In this case the primary will be a spear and the secondary will be a sword. If you set the edu and dmb to use javelin and spear the that model will hold the spear like a javelin (will not show when ammo gone, as animation assumes its a javelin and you've got none left). Then will use the sword as a spear.
Basically if the model is not built to carry those weapons you cant change the text files to suite. If you want a greek unit with a javelin maybe try looking for a Thureophoroi or Thorakitai model

OK thanks HS,but Marcel does not use a sword which is why the strange arrangement as he has Spear cas and another cas for Javelin animations,so confusing. Only one weapon for two functions,so yeah Spear invisible after javelin ammo used. I don't think he tested it that far to notice. I left message in his thread to alter to include a sword if possible? Marcel created the model to use javelin so I attempted this direction,and no sword leaves me no choice but for spear as secondary.
There is a model I think of Dark Fenrir that uses Javelin & Spear,I have to look for it to see how it is worked?
