Sieges framerate drops (pathing?)
hi,
am playing as gondor/rohan/high elves atm. games seems to work fine but first thing is a lack of fire arrows for elves.
but main thing concerns sieges. i am defending with gondor atm and am besieged. mordor brings up siege towers and i place my men waiting on walls. some come up and get slaughtered but then a large mass seems to just stand there with some trying to climb up. framerate takes a hugh hit to around 5-10fps and the game grinds to a halt. if i leave i eventually win but takes ages.
i have corei7 with a 285 so it isnt my pc. i have read other instances of sieges being an issue..is this just bad unit a.i and coding?
(when i launch an attack no problem).
any help appreciated.

I noticed the same thing, and it makes no sense since in field battles I don't see that fps hit. Very odd...

Re: Sieges framerate drops (pathing?)
yeah its a damm shame. i go from over 100fps to around 1fps...
its stupid a.i i think. cant order its troops into a siege tower at diff times and it get clogged up. well thats what it looks like.
surely someone else has experienced this? or its particular to nvidia and corei7. u would have though with 8cores i should be ripping through this game...
am on latest drivers 190.62 whql's. (which arent downclocking to 2d atm. argh..whats up with goddam nvidia and 2d/3d anyways am digressing and ranting

me too, a powerfull computer, in field battles with full stacks armies = 35FPS and the lowest in 18 but when defending or attacking a city, it goes down to 4FPS in places where there are lots of units.

This happens if the enemy doesnt open the gate or many of its troops go on 1 siege tower, whatever try to have cavalry and charge the idle enemy.

aye stopping the towers reaching your walls is a war around it..
although if u dont have cavalry i.e dwarves this is a pain. u can use characters if u dont have any suicidal calvalry..
