I don't see why it wouldn't, but I have no experience with Steam and wouldn't be able to give an accurate answer. Does Steam give you access to the Data folders?
RIP Calvin, you won't be forgotten.
yes it works with steam steam is just a download manager and super store when you download the game you get the game lol same as from a CD. You just have to find it..see steam dont like people going into the files and making cracks and other things because they need money so they hide the game folder in steam apps. just go to steam folder open up steam apps i beleive it is if it isnt just look for something apps and itll have all the game folders from all the games you own in it..if you cant find it just look around eventually youll find them.
Heres a guide I made a while ago for EB. I will just copy, paste and change some of the words to it here

It seams people are having trouble with this, so I thought I would clear it up. I bought the Alexander version of steam (since I forgot to get the real one) and figured this out a little while ago. Firstoff, download MA, and install it into your "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\rome total war alexander" as you have probably have guessed. Now comes the harder part. Normally if you had a disk version of the game merely clicking on the MA shortcut that is installed would work, but it targets Rome.exe directly, which with Steam will not work. So heres how to fix it. In Steam, make a desktop shortcut for RTW Gold vanilla. Right click this and click on properties. Under target it should say something like:
"C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 4760
But yours may be different, dont use mine. Copy this. Now right click your MA shortcut (or any, it doesnt really matter) and paste this over what is written in target. Leave a space and paste this:
-show_err -nm -mod:alexander\MA
And you'll have something like:
"C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 4760 -show_err -nm -mod:EB
It should work. It did for me. This way you can start the mod directly and still be able to start the normal Alexander with its own shortcut.
