Default Idiotic cousins as governors, how to avoid this?

Ok I figured out how to correct the earlier problem I was having but now I have a new one. I have a lord of some quality and I have granted him considrable titles over severla provinces, yet his dim witted cousin is constantly made governor ere' the two share a town. Is it possible for me to pick who is governor or is it always done by computer. if it is done by computer what are the qualifications it checks for to determine who governs? is there anyway I can have the two in the same town or must I banish the fool on a hopeless crusade in order to ensure the qualified lord reigns. Thanks, Phil

more or less yo have to move the "idiot" out of the city the "qualify char" is in in order for the more qualified to be governor

i think he just forgot a punctuation.
all you would need to do seems to move the dim witted character out of the city, that you're qualifed character is in. this should make the guy you want governor of the said city.

If you attack rebels or enemies single handedly then if he doesn't die he may come out with good traits.

As per the other replies, just kill them off if your family tree can spare them - you can always hire non-family generals if you desperately need a governor in every city or a spare minion to lead an army.

well as i have noticed its like this , lets call each general a number, general 1 is the desired one foe titles, general 2 is the "idiot", if general 2 has more chivalry than 1 he will be governor, if they have same chivalry/dread the first guy to go inside the city is governor, oh and if 2 is the commander of the army (has more stars than 1) if you execute prisoners and exterminate cities you will resolve that problem (not 100% guarantee)
