    Default Can't detect RTW-BI.exe

OK, I have RTRPE mod-switch installed on my computer and a fully functional Barbarian Invasion in my RTW folder. and I'm trying to play TIC, but it simply can't detect the BI.exe for some reason. I've installed TIC 4 times now and it never works. I click install, and it prompts me that "TIC cannot detect RTW-BI.exe, this my cause problems in the installation." This of course makes no sense, as the RTW-BI.exe is right next to the TIC folder and in plain sight. So I install it in the RTW folder, click it, and predictably, it tells me "TIC is having a problem finding the RTW-BI.exe, click "Browse" to manually find it" So I browse, select RTW-BI.exe, and it just launches normal BI instead of TIC. No matter what I do, it just launches normal BI. I've tried dragging it, moving it, etc. and nothing works. What's up?

If the problem is your launcher, you could simply create another shortcut of your current BI.exe on the desktop and rename it to TIC, right click it and open "properties" and then replace the text in the target line with smth. similar to this ( depending on where you did install the game ):
    C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe -show_err -mod:TIC.

Yeah, that didn't work. When I type in that location, it simply says it's "Not valid".

Put the exe path in quotes.

    "C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -show_err -mod:TIC

Are you sure you are pointing the installer to the right folder? Also, if you're using windows vista or 7 you may have issues with the UAC etc....

TIC does not re-distribute the .exe files as this would be illegal.
Mods are only allowed to alter certain files and the majority of these are in the Data Folder.

A mod switch creates a new folder (usually named after the mod) RTRPE, TIC etc etc.

The new icon on your desktop needs to tell the exe. file where to look first to get its data files from.

Right click on the new desktop icon and make sure the target line is using the correct filepath and modname. Example below

    "C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -show_err -mod:TIC

The example shows the line for TIC
Make sure you include the quote marks in red

There are other issues with Windows 7 as well. The most common is missing MSS files (Miles Sound System)
Quite often the files are split between Programs and Programs(x86)

To get round this, create a folder (I called mine Games) in the (x86) section.
When you install RTW, point the installer to this folder. After that, BI and all my mods had no problems finding this copy of the game.
