    Default Can you have both Templar/St John's?

    I am playing KoJ and have Templars but would love if i could also have St Johns. (Watched Kingdom of Heaven again a few days ago which prompted me to start a DLV campaign, Empire was a let down)

    Anyway Acre rebelled from the TO so i have that, And Aleppo as well, Damascus is held by Desert Tribes so it borders every town/castle i own, and both have Govenators with >5 chivalry (Aleppo is max chivalry)

    I have Templar HQ in Jerusalem, and have gotten offers for Minor templars in both the above castles, around 2 offers each in the past 15-20 turns, but no offer for StJohns =( Both are castles, not fortress.

    Anyway im sure ive gone into more detail than needed if the simple awnser is no and i can't have both Orders without maybe capturing a town that already has St Johns in it, which is a slim chance considering the area im playing in.

    Im considering building the next minor templar house next offer i get and then destroying it so i can get -points and see if that works

    Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, BTW i love this mod!

    My game is DLV 6.1 plus the Minimod addon pack.

    Solved! See my last post.

    No, 1 or the other. Even if you capture a st. john, you will not be able to recruit, but 1 of your generals will recive one of the most powerful retinue in the game. The only light in the tunnel would be to lunch a crusade to tripoli(or oters close by your land). Send out spys across europe and seek out the factions with St John. Help those factions with major funding and convoy protection, and block the templar/teutonic/santiago -factions. When the crusading St. John factions capture tripoli, they will most likly building it. Funding might speed up the building process.

    Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
    I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Ugh i could swear i remember having a campaign (way back) where i had both orders, but maybe that was the vanilla game? or a dream... perhaps it was patched out i really dont remember.

    Considering the high modability of the game is there any good soul able to tell me if it is possible I could mod this in?

    Hello mobucks
    If you want to have them both in Jerusalem (for example) you can do as follows:
    Go to your Medieval II Total War\mods\DLV_ext\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign folder.
    Open the descr_strat.txt file
    Press Ctrl+F and type region Jerusalem_Province
    Add the following lines before the last } symbol:
    Code:
        building
         {
             type guild_st_johns_chapter_house st_johns_minor_ch
         }
    This way the region Jerusalem_Province should look like:
    Code:
    settlement
    {
        level city
        region Jerusalem_Province

        year_founded 0
        population 9000
        plan_set default_set
        faction_creator egypt
        building
        {
            type core_building stone_wall
        }
        building
        {
            type barracks city_watch
        }
        building
        {
            type temple_catholic small_church
        }
        building
        {
            type market market
        }
        building
        {
            type port port
        }
        building
        {
            type guild_templars_chapter_house templars_minor_ch
        }
        building
        {
            type guild_st_johns_chapter_house st_johns_minor_ch
        }
    }
    Then start a new campaign as the Regnum Hierosolimitanum faction [Kingdom of Jerusalem] and you may have both orders in Jerusalem.

    Cheers
    Agis

    Code:
    ;------------------------------------------
    Guild templars_chapter_house
        building guild_templars_chapter_house
        exclude st_johns_chapter_house
        levels  100 250 500

        exclude templars_chapter_house
        levels  100 250 500

    ;------------------------------------------

    You see where it says "exclude st_johns_chapter_house" and "exclude templars_chapter_house"? Remove those two lines and you'll be able to get both guilds but in different cities/castles. You may not get them at the same time within a few turns but you will get them. As soon as you earn enough points for both guilds.

    Moved to Text Editing and Scripting.

    I did this and lo one turn later in my campaign i get offer for St Johns minor in Aleppo!

    I havent recruited yet but Canons of the Holy Sepulcher are in the roster avail to be recruited in 10 turns. Yet to see if they work in game/any bugs but hey it's a start.

    Will report wether it works or not.

    Edit: It all works yea!
