Icon4 Please Dont Ignore This Question.

Could someone tell me how I could use only a few select portraits in campaign instead of a random mix of 300 hundred? im trying to add new portraits but I dont want the vanilla ones popping up and I dont want to replace all 300 hundred vanilla portraits.

also, can someone tell me why all my new unit Icons in the battle menu are tinted in faction colors?
(russia, green tint. poland, red tint. etc.)

I would really appreciate if someone would help me with either of these questions. this is the second time that I have posted the latter question and nobody will touch it for some reason.

    One, which portraits?

The second oneis that there are 6 color values for each faction, with each one changing a different color.

Take a look at the CA files and see which one is all the same, and try that one.

I don't remember the order, but there is unit battle color, campaign color, text color and icon color, there are two others but I forget them.

umm, just general, king and admiral portraits.

im not quite sure if your understanding my second question.
im trying to make so that my unit icons are not tinted. i want them to look exactly how the picture looks, but for whatever reason, the picture is tinted in color. ill see if i can get a screen shot.

I can't think of an easy way to do this, apart from taking your selected portraits and renaming them so that whatever #.tga the game selects it will be one of yours.

I would need to know more about how you created your icons. I've just done some unit icons like this: Took screen shot of unit, cut out close-up 88x66 image, put in on grey background, saved it as tga. I didn't get any faction color in the icon.

so lets say i create (or steal off of the internet) 10 portraits and replace 10 #.tga with my new portraits, sooner or later the 290 remaining vanilla portraits will still eventually pop up.
and if i use top cats solution than i risk having 2 of the exact same general commanding more than one army at the same time. is there no real solution to this?

when i add the alphas to the icons the vanilla icon frame is the only thing that shows up, not the picture that i added.
    what wrong now?

    1. Well you could put the same portraits in 20 or 30 times (depending on how many you wanted), that would leave the game using the portraits you wanted, no matter which one it 'randimly' selects.

    2. Theres an alpha channel for the unit cards in xxxx_mask.tga (I think). This works the same way alpha channel do in unit skins - it give faction colour to certain areas.

    Hope this helps
