    Default Modeling Inquiries

Two questions for all you modelers out there.

    1) I've never been a big fan of the "faulds / tassets" on the western full-plate models. For one of my units' upgrades, I wanted to keep the partial plate "skirt" to keep with the iconic look of the crusaders. However, the only way I could think of to do this was by getting rid of the full-plate legs and keeping the partial-plate legs. But now my full-plate guys have a lot of mail on their lower appendages. How might I give them the full-plate legs but keep the partial-plate skirt?

    2) The Dismounted Feudal Knights model seems to be UV-mapped incorrectly, as all of the tabards for one of the bodies are shifted over slightly. So all the crosses and sigils and what-not seem to be off-center. Sometimes it's not noticeable. Others it's pretty glaring. I am very inexperienced with UV-mapping and have no idea how I might go about fixing this. Can anyone help me out here?

Thank you in advance for your time and help!

I would recommend acquainting yourself with modeling, and reading one of the tutorials.

What program are you using to UV map? Your second problem would be very easy to fix in Milkshape.

I only have Milkshape. So all modeling and UV-mapping is through Milkshape. And it's weird, because some times Milkshape will show the UV-maps and it's a simple matter of selecting and moving it over to the right spot. Other times, it doesn't show up at all and I am very confused.

Milkshape's editor was designed a little clunkily, but it actually works very well when you know what you're doing. The only times a UV map will not show is when you don't have the group selected in the Texture Coordinate window. So you have to select it (and only it) in the main window, and then select it once again in the UV window.

Oh I see. That would explain why some times they just disappear. Thank you for clarifying that up! When it does work, it works well (like you said), and I've been able to do some pretty nifty things with it thus far. Thanks again!
