Error when starting game

When I attempt to start this mod I get the following error



I installed the mod in my RTW folder as seen on the desktop. I installed on desktop because I have a vista and I saw in the other topic that vista users should not install in program files.


How can I fix this?

You can install games into your program files folder (c:\program files (x86)) without too many problems. What you need to realize is that any changes you make (save games, replays etc) will not be written back to the correct folder in the games folder. They will be written to the 'virtual store'.

This is a bit of a pain and the suggestion is to install to a folder other than the standard one (c:\program files (x86)). As my second drive is 1Tb I simply created a folder there (g:\program files (x86)).

When I first started using Vista I installed to the standard folder and managed to use the game without any problems. I did find it hard to remember where the saves etc went to. In the end I reinstalled into a different folder.

What is more important is what have you done with UAC? That needs to be switched off.

I've noticed that when I dl the 1.5 patch my RTW no longer works, and this is even before I have the mod installed. So it is not a problem with the mod but instead with vista (shocker). I'll try your suggestion of turning off UAC while I install and see what happens.

Make sure that your RTW install works properly before attempting to install any mods. A corrupt install won't be fixed by installing a mod.
