Default Can you play Extended Realism with out BI?

    hello,

I have got Rome Total War and have patched it up to 1.5 also i have Rome Total Realism Platinum. I want to try out extended realism mod but i am not sure if i need Barbarian Invasion for it too work. I suppose BI means Barbarian Invasion correct me if i am wrong. So can i download extended realism and play it with rome total war 1.5, Rome total realism platinum with no Barbarian Invasion. Also i see there are add-ons for extended realism and optimizations do you recommend any?

    thanks.

I haven't installed ExRTR yet, but I believe that since they say in the post for the download link that you need BI I assume you need it. Still, other people will know more than I do. If I had BI I'd install it and then ExRTR just to be safe, but since you're posting this I assume you don't have it. I'll just stop here because there are other people who know how to answer better than I.

I think it is possible to port to RTW. This is how you port a RTW mod to BI:

    1. Open Rome - Total War folder
    2. Open ExRM folder
    3. Open world/map/campaign folder
    4. Rename imperial_campaign into barbarian_invasion
    5. Open descr_strat.txt inside the barbarian_invasion folder
    6. Find campaign imperial_campaign and change it to campaign barbarian_invasion
    7. Save the file and exit the folder/s

    Step Two

    1. Open text folder
    2. Copy and rename imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt into barbarian_invasion_regions_and_settlement_names.txt
    3. Save file
    4. Open campaign_descriptions.txt
    5. In the notepad (or any text editor) click;
    a- edit
    b- replace..
c- in Find what: box type IMPERIAL_CAMPAIGN_
d- in Replace with: box type BARBARIAN_INVASION_
    6. Save and exit

    Step Three

    1. On the desktop, right-click on the ExRM shortcut
    2. Left-click properties
    3. In the target line, replace RomeTW.exe with RomeTW-BI.exe
    * do not replace the whole-line, just the stated words above only.
    4. Click apply and exit the box
    5. Run the game....

Note: Just to add, this assume that prior to installing ExRM, you already have RTW and BI installed and patched to v1.6
So basically, if you do everything the other way around, it should work. Good luck

But i want to find out if i can play Extended realism without having Barbarian Invasion installed since i do not own a copy of the Barbarian Invasion expansion pack. So i just have Rome Total War 1.5 and Rome Total realism platinum with no expansion packs.

Install the mod, then follow those instruction but the other way around (for instance, rename the barbarian_invasion to imperial_campaign.
