    Default ARCHAEO TRIVIA

The rules of the game are simple, ask an Archaeo question and the forum will try to answer it. The person who gets the correct answer will be awarded rep by the asker and gets to ask the next question. Good luck and have fun!

    Where is located the "lupercal"?

Davide, is it Diolkos? The Diolkos itself seems to fit your description there.

EDIT: I didn't read the above post. Excuse me, but I've been staying up very late, so I may not have been thinking straight. I'll have to wait until I can join in then.

Davide.cool, you want to go right now, or what? I think we've been waiting too long for Lacedaemonian to respond.

Fine, I'll start the question. What is an ancient and significant oasis to the west of Egypt? This should be fairly easy.

The Gobekli Tepe, located in Turkey, I believe, is supposed to be considered the oldest temple.

In ancient Athens, Greece, what was the significance of the so-called Old Temple's construction?

EDIT: Sorry, do you want to ask the question now? Go ahead then.

I never knew we had an archaeology section! I'll be stopping by here from now on.

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to the current question though. I've just opted for a Classics Minor here at university, and I'm in my first archaeology course, so I'm very much an amateur

Well, for the question I asked, I'll just allow you at any point to look something up online for the "Old Temple" of Athens. I think you might discover the answer soon if you did that.

Didn't know there was an Archaeology section either ... don't really visit any subforums apart from one really
As for your question, I majored in Pre and Protohistory of North-Western Europe so it beats me, I have no interest in anything from the Mediterrean really.

The significance of the temple in archeticture due to its pecuilar interior design. Which is due to hypo. that it was built above a preexisting structure ( got to love cultural difussion through war) but the main thing that it is interesting to me is that it is a temple of polytheology (more than one god).
