From here I’ll tell about my campaign with Rohan, VH/VH – version 1.2 – with FoW toggled for the story. Armies are sized normal. The story will be told for every 10 turns and will try to add some screenshots.
For my part, I enjoy writing, but English is not my native language, so my pardon for any language-wise problems. Furthermore, in names, area’s and happenings I try to keep as close to the Lore as I can. The story will be created by the happenings in the game.
Enjoy reading!

The Beginning (turn 1-10).
War is stirring in Middle Earth. So is King Thengel told by his advisors. The stories of old, the defence of the Hornburg against the Dunlendings, is fresh in his mind. Together with the rising rumours about treachery of Saruman the Wise he summons his generals. The goal will be clear, Rohan will NOT be overrun again. King Thengel, The three Marshalls of the Mark and the Commander of the Eored Erkenbrand decide that an army will go west with his son Theoden, to rally all distant cities under the banner of the Lord of the Mark. Derwath and Talsir will be visited and the Riders of the Mark together with the Faction Heir hope for a warm welcome. Erkenbrand will take an army to the north, to check the rumours of the danger that is lingering from the Orthanc.
As soon as Erkenbrand reached the lands of the Nan Curunir his army was succesfully ambushed by a small band of snaga’s and a form of bigger Orcs this army of the green fields never saw before. Luckily the mounted forces could take care of the javelin throwing goblins without much losses and the archers pinned down those Orc raiders quickly without big losses for the general. The weaponry of this army bared a White Hand… the mark of Saruman. Orders from King Thengel followed quickly, march to the Orthanc and confront Saruman with his deeds.
In the meantime scouts send to the foot of the Misty Mountains return bearing news that the One Ring is said to be found in the deep dwellings in the north, wielded by armies of orcs that grow day by day… grim tidings, bad news indeed.
When the Ring of Isengard was reached arrows welcomed the poor rider that wanted to request a word with Saruman. Erkenbrand in his turn decided to shut off the area and besiege the impressive walls in the Wizard’s Vale. Without solid siege equipment assaulting the walls is useless he assumes, so the general shut’s off the area in the hope the enemy will show itself soon enough.
Meanwhile Lord Theoden reached Derwath but the welcome was not as positive as expected. A small army of bandits closed the gates and refused entrance in the name of the Lord of the Mark. Word from inside the town showed that not all of people of this city thought that way, but they were forced by this small army to stay inside. King Thengel orders followed swift, remove the bandits and add the town to the lands of the Rohirrim. In the east the Lord of the Mark ordered the promising general Hunwald from Woldberg to check out the city Tirith Anduin.
General Erkenbrand his forced stood firm around the walls of Isengard. Out of reach of the archers from the walls, but close enough to control every movement in the valley. Though, Erkenbrand made one big mistake, he didn’t expect enemy forces from the east. One wounded scout returned and stumbled of his horse with news that a small army with archers and raiders was coming from the forest of Fangorn. The news came too late, as the gates of Saruman’s fortress opened and his new breed of orcs together with goblins unleashed a furious attack on the forces of the Rohan general. In the little time he had Erkenbrand looked to the hills and ordered his spear and axeman to stand ground on a small passage between the rocks, with the archers behind them to send folleys of arrows on the broad armed army. Erkendbrand his bodygaurd units, the 60 light armed scouts and the 30 fully armed Rohan riders grouped together to charge the uncoming archers and raiders that were coming from the rear. With solid losses they managed to rout the enemy reinforcements. Meanwhile the main army of the enemy reached the hills, but Erkenbrand his heart rose when he saw that his archers decimated the Isengard forces that much before reaching the main army that some orcs already retreated. His mounted force charged the Isengard army from the back and made them rout – caught in there own trap. The way to the Orthanc was cleared.
Edoras messengers where delighted to tell King Thengel about the positive outcome of the battle. Together with his felicitations for Erkenbrand the next orders arrived, keep Saruman locked in the Orthanc and chase away any remaining forces in the eastern forest of Fangorn. Though this order was clear, only the most brave and valiant warriors joined Erkenbrand into the thick forest. Their errand was sfiftly fulfilled, only a single squadron of goblins was seen and taken care of. The general posted some scouts at the borders of the forest and returned to Isengard to keep track on more enemy movement in the west.
In the Golden Halls The Lord of the Mark was very pleased with the news that came from his three armies on the move. His son Theoden was taking care of the bandits that kept the free people of Derwath prisoned, Hunwald did the same with the far city of Tirith Anduin and the bad news about the One Ring looked more and more like a false story, because nothing was seen in the far side of the Green Lands close to the mountain of these huge Orc armies with the Ring of Old.
Troubles from the North (turn 10-20).
The bandits in Derwath still refused any form of coöperation with Lord Theoden what forced him to take the town in violence. With the loss of three man the heir of the throne took the walls of the city and made the bandits retreit. People stormed out of there houses to greet Theoden and his army, trade routes with Adorn in the Westmarch were reopend and with a small regiment left behind Lord Theoden moved on to his next assignment – the northern town of Talsir. Scouts reported Uruk Hai as they called themselves, together with goblins and the archenemies of the Rohan Army… the wild men from the north.
King Thengel was watching the sunset just outside the Great Hall of Meduseld while a messenger was approaching from the east. ‘Bring that scout to me personaly, give him some blankets and a nice deserved meal at this chill night’ – Thengel said to one of his captains. The scout was bringing good news. Though Hunwald lost 75 Eorling Militia and some Scouts Tirith Anduin was seized and added to the great fields of the Mark. ‘But there is more to be told my lord’, the scout said. ‘We believe we saw a big army on the move close to the big forest of the northeast. The people of the city call it Mirkwood, I believe’. King Thengel frowned, ‘My youth in the Gondorian Libraries learned me that Mirkwood is a place of great evil. Though they believe that the Silvan Elves still dwell there…’. ‘But my lord, excuse me for interrupting sire… the gaurds on the walls said they thought it were Elves! They all told me they saw a glimpse of a beautiful army’. ‘Hmm, alot is going on these strange days… but Elven armies on the march? I would only believe that seeing with my own eyes’, Thengel answered, ‘thanks for your hard work corporal, go take a well deserved rest’.
Meanwhile Erkenbrand was ordered to leave Isengard behind with a regiment of 2 Eorling Militia and 2 Eorling Archers and join the Northern Front together with Lord Theoden his armies. In the red dawn the general assembled his armies and started the march to the city of Duneard in Dunland… dangerous, because of the now assembled Uruk Hai, together with the wild men from the north.
A little south east of Duneard Theoden reached the city of Talsir. Besieging the old walls of the city. Saruman’s forces were certainly in command there, as the Faction Heir was welcomed by 5 slain peasants, hanging dead on the walls. His captains shivered, but just when Theoden’s was ready to give his forces a speech on the moral the gates opened and Goblins, Uruk Hai and evil men of Dunland stormed out to meet their besiegers. Theoden’s orders where spread around so swift and his captains followed them up so carefully that the enemy lost the momentum. The general his mounted Scouts and fully armed Riders forced the positive outcome with declining morale by killing the feared general Radbag. With furthermore successfully defending of the Eorling Militia in schildtrom formation and the continuous salvo’s of Theoden’s archers. A clear victory for the horsemaster.
At almost the same time in Dunland general Erkenbrand decided to break the walls and smash the small garrison of Orcs that kept the northern town prisoned. He had to react quick because scouts noticed a huge enemy army marching south coming from the Dunland Hills. Two regiments of Snaga Skirmishers were torn down by Erkenbrand his Militia and mounted Scouts, he personally took care of the Isengard general Gazluk. ‘Orcish breed… speak! We overtook your master at Nan Cunihir! What are your intentions!’ The black Orc started laughing and spit on the ground. ‘Vile human, soon your doom will approach… you maybe stopped the war machine of Isengard for now but…’, the Orc was interrupted by a luitenant who was carrying a dead Snaga archer with him. ‘My general,’ the luitenant started, ‘this miserable scum that iam carrying here told me this general is the leader of the Isengard army – the Faction Heir of Saruman!’. While everyone turned their head to the Orc general Gazluk acted sfift, grabbed the sword of his direct guard and slashed him down. Erkenbrand grabbed his sword Gúthwine but the archers on the wall that looked upon the struggle reacted quick and three arrows pierced the Isengard General. Erkenbrand checked on his death guard and closed his eyes for a second. ‘Release the five goblins we captured and let them run back to their kin. Let them know evil cannot roam free through the Mark!’.
King Thengel expected news from the front early the next evening and was pleased to hear his two generals on the northwest front were performing good. Talsir and Duneard were taken for the glory of the Rohirrim. But there was more news… the Wizard Saruman was found dead at the foot of the Orthanc… the regiment of Eorling Militia that was guarding the Iron Pillar stormed too him and told that his last words were undefinable, though they found a black ball with a magical fire within close to Saruman’s body. They locked the Palantír inside of the Orthanc, unaware of the risk of holding on to the ball longer than necessary.
All Isengard forces fled north to the Misty Mountains, even the army on the move to repel Erkenbrands taking of Duneard. The will of Saruman was broken, and the northern borders of Rohan were once more free of Orcs. In the meantime Lord Theoden opened the gates of Talsir for thirtyone men, woman and children arriving from the west. Of them Theoden learned that the town of Angren, Lond Angren, was under suffocation of bandits and without the orders of his father the Heir left a small regiment behind and decided to march to the city close to the Wide Sea.

Two things:
1. You should have posted it into the AAR sub forum, ask a moderator to move it into there.
2. I saw you posted a link to a screenshot. There is a way for you to post the screenshot itself, not the link. Just copy the link and paste it in the insert image button.
