Default Ionic Frieze Texture: Anyone know of a good source?

    Hi Guys,

I've been working on my (Greek) temple building, with some success up until this point. Having succesfully textured the columns, capitals, plinths, roofs and floor, all that is left is the frieze. I have used a rather attractive greek crossed-keys design on the lower part of the Frieze, but the upper (major) part is driving me to my wits end. I've tried all of my customary sources and drawn a blank, so I thought I'd throw it open here, seeing as I anticipate you've all had to source textures before and might know a thing or two! I

I just wonder whether anyone knows anywhere where I might be able to find something passing for a continuous, greek marble frieze. I would rather stay with the Ionic order, as that's what I have modelled the capitals of the columns as, but there has been so little result that I would be happy to go with Doric or Corinthian, if needs must. And, while I like the idea of a carved-figures style frieze best, I would also be perfectly happy with entablature or anything of a vaguely appropriate nature. Teh Interweb has pretty much failed my searchings here, but you guys are more experienced at sourcing classical textures than I am.

(Sorry if this is the wrong place, I wasn't sure which dev forum would be best. 2 seemed most active, but I don't wish to make a fool of myself by exhibiting excessive newbish-ness in thread placement!)

    This is the right place.

Have you tried www.cgtextures.com? Loads of good stuff there (try under -->ornaments-->reliefs or borders), or maybe google images?

Cheers, I'll have a look at that site now. TBH, I don't mind whether it's carvings or entablature I end up with so long as it conforms to the correct order. Players would be right to be annoyed if it did not.

As for Google images The Romans have a monopoly on friezes there, I fear! The poor Greek survival rate does not help of course.

I'll post again when the matter is resolved.

EDIT: What a great website! Cheers, +rep! Found what I was looking for straight away. Cheers man!

It's very good - all the new skies came from there, along with a lot of ground textures and so on.
