The election will be in 145 days or a bit more, but who will be the Jr Senator from MA? Another Kennedy? or horrors -- Barney Frank?

Other family members seen as possible heirs include his nephew, former Representative Joseph P. Kennedy II. But despite his $2 million in leftover campaign funds, Joseph Kennedy has expressed reluctance to return to politics. Senator Kennedy’s sons, Edward M. Kennedy Jr. and Representative Patrick J. Kennedy of Rhode Island, have also been mentioned.

Outside the family, there is a stable of high-profile Massachusetts Democrats considered possible successors, from Representative Barney Frank, chairman of the Financial Services Committee; state Attorney General Martha Coakley and former Representative Martin Meehan, who retired to become chancellor of the University of Massachusetts-Lowell last year, but who has about $4.8 million in campaign cash left.

The timing on this almost insures that there will not be a partisan driven Healthcare Reform this year. If the Republicans could present an acceptable choice to MA voters, this could end up being the most expensive US Senate by-election ever.

If MA sent Franks to senate then Im all for the authorization of nuking the state on grounds of stupidity. Seriously I actually think GOP would love to see Franks run since they would rip him apart with his role in current economic mess and it would piss him off and he would blow a gasket because he lacks self control.

Noooooo! Danzig we are not all bad. Barney Frank is a fraud and I wish more Americans could see this. His actions reguarding Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac alone should get him impeached.

Perhaps he should go back to his "alleged" prostitution ring because I am tired of him pimping out the citizens of Massachusetts.
