This is incredibly sad, For him to die at this time especially is a cruel irony indeed.
Rest in peace sir.
POlitical opposition to many of my views, but he still was truly a lion in the US Senate.
Rest in peace. You have earned the rest.

RIP ... a icon and vanguard of liberalism
I respectfully disagreed with a number of policies, but also agreed with others. Unfortunately, he had the bad luck of having his family history marred by tragedy and his own name by mistakes of the past.
Nevertheless, he was a great American icon. Condolensces from the Right.
According to the Theory of War, which teaches that the best way to avoid the inconvenience of war is to pursue it away from your own country, it is more sensible for us to fight our notorious enemy in his own realm, with the joint power of our allies, than it is to wait for him at our own doors.

Well I want to go if cant say something good about someone dont say anything at all but sorry I cant. It is a travesty that a man such as Ted Kennedy is held to such high esteem while showing the complete lack of any moral character or common sense. The man is a murderer, a criminal and a terrorist supporter. Sorry I wont miss him and the true travesty here is that he lived so long while his brother JFK didnt. As far as filling his shoes? Easy close your eyes and randomly pick someone.
murder - 1.) the unlawful and malicious or premeditated killing of a person
Altho I also hold Mary Jo Kopeckne's death against him, I've never looked on it as "murder", but rather accidental homicide, if even that. I remember the events well, I was alive at the time. He definitely showed youthful poor judgement by first driving drunk, and secondly, not seeking help immediately for her. BUT....it was an accident. Do you honestly think he got in the car with her and was thinking "I'm going to kill this girl by running off a bridge and drowning her?"
Methinks a lot of the ill will expressed on this thread has more to do with the fact his endorsement of Obama was one of the key moments of the election, and David Axelrod calls it the pivotal moment.

Yeah I know had this "argument" this morning with wife too, legally yeah ok he isnt a murderer but his actions and irresponsibility killed the woman and then tried to hide it. What did he think no one would notice she was gone? Anyone else would have faced charges and probably have gone to prison.
Actually no I could care less who he endorsed simply because I think that little of Ted Kennedy. What he thought, felt etc is completely meaningless to me.Methinks a lot of the ill will expressed on this thread has more to do with the fact his endorsement of Obama was one of the key moments of the election, and David Axelrod calls it the pivotal moment.
No, see it's just people pointing out the absurd hypocrisy of the far left. I'm pretty liberal when it comes to social side of things, but this guy was a scum bag. Supporting the IRA and what he did to that girl was complete bs. Yet the dems LOVE to scream and rage about Bush supposedly not serving in Vietnam or whatever the hell. It's funny how they trump up what the right does to such ludicrous extent whilst having the 'liberal lion' Ted Kennedy as a 'democratic icon'. His brother's were much greater men, but in realistic form the good died young and the scum bag lived on. How is this man any better than Bush morally or ethically exactly?
Because Ted Kennedy was a good leader with one of the most prolific and reputable careers in the U.S. Senate, all while being a paragon of Bi-partisanship. In a city which represents gridlock, and getting nothing done, he managed to get things done. He made many mistakes in his personal life, and was many times saved by being the son of privilege but At least he struck true to his ideas, day in and day out on the senate floor and legislated effectively, in the Interests of the American People.
Aside from that, I don't see how people saying that he should burn in hell, or Loon Britons saying that some manner of IRA victims get their revenge or Loon Conservatives saying that Mary jo K. Get's justice Is a bit of Nasty and crass way to react to someones death. Imagine how you would react, After Reagan dying that all those Nicaraguans who had died, Killed by the Contras had finally received Justice ? You have the right to cite hypocrisy, as it is committed by some on the left, but that works both ways and is just the same committed by many on the right.

Fundraiser-in-chief for the IRA. Good riddance.
Sad. He was a great politician.
