A very nice city and definitely worth a visit but not the one in the picture.

Something feels off here. Those buildings look like they've been cut from cardboard. Those palatial facades especially do not seem to have any depth to them, as if they're just facades (you can look straight through them). Also, while first impression is that of town with some history to it, almost all buildings are quite modern. The only thing that looks authentic is what could be a cemetery? You know, with the two very tall palm trees in it?

What place could combine Northern and Southern European vegetation like that, provided that the palm trees are not transplanted?

Something about that and the architecture takes me to Italy.

It could be south Italy (Sicily), but I can't really recognize the architectural style of those taller buildings, they definitely look Spanish colonial to me, and thus are probably too recent to be in Italy.
