I can heartily recommend the Italian Wars mod by Aneirin.
In exile, but still under the patronage of the impeccable Aikanár, alongside Aneirin. Humble patron of Cyclops, Frunk and Abdülmecid I.

Correct! It's the Great Ziggurat of Ur, ancient temple of the mesopotamian moon god.
Would someone rep Abdül for me?

I said "relatively" in light of the previous guess (Belgium).

This combination of French representative architecture and timberframe houses smells of Alsace or francophone Switzerland.

Not Switzerland. It's definitely France. And most likely not that far from the Jura, given the stone.
I can't decide if the flags are a hint. If so it's probably referring to one of the two expeditionary forces sent by Brazil. More likely the first than the second one.
I thought that this might actually be in Saarland, and the window shape with the little knob on top felt really distinctive and familiar somehow. Then I started looking for something having to do with EU in Saarland until I felt quite stupid. Of course, the place of EU importance near to the state capital Saarbrücken is only a short train ride away. Strassburg / Strasbourg!
We are looking at the Schiller Chateau in Strasbourg.
It's indeed in France. Besides the four flags in the middle, there are also two flags on top of the palace, the French and that of the European Union. But Septentrionalis already got it! It's the château de Pourtalès, a few kilometers to the north-east from the center of Strasbourg.
Thank you, Abdi! Let's try another angle. This one might be a bit hard to research, and if it turns out too hard, I'll refrain from posting similar ones in the future.

Tel Aviv. While I'm interested in seeing how others would fare on this one I spent far too long looking for this one on Google Maps to risk this being taken by Abdül or Muizer.
The pic obviously shows a relatively big city by the ocean. Given the high amount of highrise and subtropical looking vegetation I excluded Europe and mainly thought of the southern USA or Australia. The latter was less likely as going from the picture this place appears to be a place where they drive on the right. Still checked the few candidates Australia has a I was a bit stuck after I couldn't find a good candidate in the US either. I then went to look for a relatively well-developed coastal city in South America and Africa but again no success. The Persian Golf towns are all far too dry and the Caribbean doesn't have any fitting candidates either. After that I did start checking a few possibilities in Europe but as I thought none of them fit this picture. Back to the US then, perhaps I'd overlooked something, it could be high tide on this picture so places with more beach on google maps could still be candidates but still no luck. I was about to quit after spending way too long on something like this when I thought of Tel Aviv as a possibility and finally I found it.
Awesome work! Your effort is highly appreciated and commended, and thanks for the interesting discovery story. Looking at driving left or right is pretty smart; I didn't come to think of it at all. I was thinking that maybe the color of the sea, the dead straight coastline without islands or hills in the background might hint that we are in this part of the Mediterranean. Also, I find the number of one or two-story buildings among the high-rise buildings highly unusual and indicative that we are not talking about a very big city.
Looking forward to your entry!
LolIsuck, would you do us the favor of presenting another challenge? It doesn't have to be the most carefully thought-out thing in the world.
The way we are discussing these strategies and learning from each other, I think we are getting quite good at this. If there was a team sport for identifying places around the globe, I bet the TWC crew would make a mean contender.
That said, if any of you unregistered visitors or forum members who haven't participated yet find this interesting, feel free to join us (create an account you if have none). We appreciate newcomers; no GTFO N00b mentality here.

Hmm, what are these? Anti-tank obstacles from WW2?
The flat landscape and the wind turbine point to northern Germany or Benelux, while the motorway signs look German (they're blue/white everywhere in EU, but I have only ever seen the white inlay pointing to business parks in Germany).
EDIT: The image has a crazy high resolution, which even allows reading off the placenames. This motorway goes to, I think, Antwerpen and maybe Eindhoven(?). So we're looking for a place in the eastern Netherlands/western Germany, most likely, along a motorway leading to Antwerp. Since the photo looks like it was taken personally on a walk rather than a random photo from the internet, I'm going to guess it is somewhere along the German A4/Dutch A76 (E314) in the vicinity of Heerlen, Limburg.
EDIT EDIT: Indeed it is, it's the Panzersperre Bocholtz, just across the Dutch-German border and less than an hour by bike from Heerlen.

There is either something wrong with how I perceive the perspective, or those hikers in the picture are like two feet tall.
Dwarven hikers are a well-known sight in that part of Germany and generally well-received as long as they don't undermine existing structures.
