I'm guessing that's a vineyard below so I doubt it's the UK. I can't quite place it though, is it somewhere around the Alps? My first guess was Mediterranean and then a Norman, Venetian or Byzantine fortress but I doubt that now.

That's a good call on the vineyards below, I didn't see those before. I think you're onto something with it being Mediterranean located. Could be somewhere in southern France?

Athelstan is correct, it's the Tourbillon castle, though actually I would've been fine with just naming the city (Sion/Sitten), which is the capital of Valais (canton in switzerland with the best mountains and the funniest Swiss French dialect). I obviously tried to trick you guys since it's not readily visible on the image that there's a city right next to everything. Didn't know that this castle would be that high up a list though, so I failed.

The castle is photographed from another fortified place, which is the Valère basilica/castle, which also looks quite nice. Sion actually manages to have a third castle in the city as well.

Was the city so much threatened in it's history that it needed all those? Hmm... Nah. Not really.
