Actually, it's in Germany...
Anyway, I'll try to come up with a more workable one.
I think India.

I'm out of ideas at the moment, and since I don't want to use other people's pictures for copyright reasons (new EU laws etc.), someone else may as well proceed. FWIW, the above picture was taken in the Geiseltal (Geisel valley), which is a former lignite strip mine in Central Germany as well as apparently a fossil deposit (though not as famous as Messel). It's old GDR infrastructure.
Alright, I'll post one then - This should be quite easy

St. Mark's Square in Zagreb.
It is indeed! I went there with a mate of mine in the autumn holiday last year (who is covered up by my amazing censoring skills). Athanaric's talk on copyright stuff made me think that I should user a picture I took myself, and so it was either this or a picture of my hometown, which all of you looking at this post knows...
You're up Loli!

Been a while since I last saw you mate, did some easy rep lure you back? It is indeed Heidelberg, pic taken when I was there last year.

Karlštejn castle, Czech Republic, about 30 kilometers from here.
Edit: now that I've secured the entry, time for a little trivia. Founded by Charles IV in 1348 to serve as a secure place for crown jewels, the castle eventually housed even crown of Holy Roman Empire, as well as multitude of important documents. It was besieged only once, during Hussite wars. After it was no longer serving its purpose, it was eventually left to fall nearly into ruin, but was reconstructed at the end of 19th century.
The photo was probably taken from Well tower on the western side of castle. You can see the Big tower on far left, in which is the Chapel of the Holy Cross, where all the important items were stored...it had, for the time, unique and very complex security to serve the purpose. Marian tower in next to it, and to the right is Burgrave house. Last important part, Imperial palace, is obscured by Burgrave house from this angle.

Let's try this. Unusual, but I think very doable...Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Given the accent on the e the sign is probably Slavic, and seeing as you're Czech I'd guess it's somewhere in Czechia but my lack of knowledge of WW2 weaponry makes this is far as I can get.
Its quite clearly Slovokia... unless it isn't, then I have no idea.
