    It depends what you consider sphere of influence to be. The area was not under Norman control, though the castle was built after the period of Norman dominance.

    As there have been no guesses after a couple of days,clearly time for a clue: All I will say for now is that it is somewhere in the non-Europe part of what was the Spanish Empire....

    Force Royal Castle or Castillo de la real Fuerza Old Havana,Cuba.
    The non Europe clue was what helped.I was searching for Spanish castles but on the wrong side of map
