The rough terrain around this kind of screams Pico de Fogo in Cape Verde, but I am not sure about the shape of the summit.

Morticia has it, it is Mount Ngauhuroe. It was used as the stand-in for Mount Doom in the LOTR trilogy.

So beautiful! Is this over the Schalkenmehrener Maar towards the town of Daun? So interesting to learn that Germany has some ancient volcanic areas. I had no idea until ten minutes ago.

You are on the right track, its a Maar, but not the Schalkenmehrener Maar near Daun.

But they are not ancient, they are still active, but sleeping at least at the moment.^^

    It's the Ulmener Maar.

The volcanoes don't spit lava anymore, but the region is still seismically active. Tiny earthquakes below the threshold of human perception are very common in the Eifel and adjacent areas. One can still detect them without seismographic equipment: My parents need to readjust some of the paintings on the walls every few days.

    It is.

But the Eifel Vulcanoes are not dead, they are dormant. There are some new scientific studies.

    For example:

    (sadly only in german)

    Your turn.

    Unsettling, but nevertheless interesting.
