Maybe AoRun just wants me to finally close this round. I thought that Dique de Levante, close to a mile long breakwater with a lighthouse at the end would be distinctive and easily researchable landmark. But I now realize that it is not that unique and I cannot find it myself easily if I pretend to be naïve. So the place is Torrevieja in the Valencian Community.

A little hint: its in Germany and the house of the two castles served in the 18/19 century in the russian or prussian army. There is a butterfly zoological garden near and the castle is a beautiful wedding location today.

Without the quote i would have also guessed Berlin or Vienna because of the "neo-roman temple style". Its quite typical for Berlin or Vienna around 1900.
