Difference

Can somebody tell what is a better version of RTR? 1.2 or 1.5(Platinum)
Or is there no difference at all.....

The best version is the one for 1.6(The BI version). Judging from my experience, you automatically download it with RTR Platinum 1v9. It has the shield wall and schriltron, swimming ability, and all the other perks of the BI mod, so it's a lot better.

Thats not true, Platinum does not include 1.6 for BI.

1.5 is the best RTW, 1.6 for BI and some say the Alexander version is the best.

The RTW 1.5 version should be better. Make sure that you include the 'revolt CTD' work around. As far as 'exes' go I try to play with the RTW Alexander one as much as possible - it does mean some of the features from RTW BI are lost (as mentioned by JrvUnleashed).

The RTW 1.5 one with ALX.exe. Alexander has a better AI. Also, you might want to stick with the 1.5 version if you can't stand the (pains me to say this) historical over-hand hoplites. I think it looks horrible.

What does the overhand hoplite animation have to do with using RTW, BI or Alex?

My RTW version of Rome Total Realism has hoplites which basically look like the BI barbarian spearmen units in their "fake phalanx" but when I made another copy of the game on my computer and installed the BI version of RTR they started using that horrible overhand animation. Childish I know, but because of that I have two separate installations

I can't talk about Alex, since I do not own it, but imo opinion RTW-BI is clearly better than RTW. But I don't think you won't notice much of a difference between the two when you play RTRPE
